The only way to save civilization will be to deprive governments of the power over the supply of money." Who said that? Who stated so clearly and boldly what few politicians are willing to confess? None other than Friedrich von Hayek, noted Nobel Laureate in Economics, writing in his groundbreaking work, The Denationalization of Money. In 1976, Dr. Hayek re-opened the academic worlds eyes to the concept of private, competitive currency and predicted the demise of the government monopoly on money. Dr. Hayek, who spoke prolifically and passionately against socialism in his world-famous book The Road to Serfdom in 1944, continued by describing the "immense education task ahead before we can free ourselves from [government money], the gravest threat to social peace" NORFED the National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve Act and the Internal Revenue Code is awakening a FREE MONEY MOVEMENT, as called for by Hayek, by distributing The Liberty Dollar the antidote to our governments manipulated fiat money.   1. AN AMAZING PICTURE THAT TELLS THE STORY OF SILVER V. FRNS! Austin RC Jason Pratt was thinking one day (actually, he does that a lot) about evidence he could find that illustrates the whole point of The Liberty Dollar that its simply a superior currency to those dreaded FRN*s. He wanted that one picture that tells the whole story at a glance. Heres his report on the chart he made that tracks the price of silver (adjusted for inflation) against the value of a $1 Federal Reserve Note from the beginning of the FRB in 1913: Pretty clearly, you can see that silver has held its ground and even appreciated over the 89 years since 1913, while the Federal Reserve Note has steadily lost value over that time. The amount of silver in a $1 U.S. Silver Dollar in 1913 (0.78 ounce) is today worth about $3.31, while the equivalent 1913 one dollar FRN is worth $0.04. Quite a difference! From 1792 through 1964, the U.S. Mint produced silver coinage. They stopped when their stockpile of post World War II silver ran out and the free market in silver was over $1.29 per ounce which would have made the US Silver Dollar worth more than a "dollar" in silver. Something that no one could do! Not even the US Mint. The Silver Certificates were given until 1968 when the government repudiated there obligation and stopped redeeming them for silver. Thirty years later - almost to the day - The Liberty Dollar was issued. Had the price of U.S. Treasury silver not been fixed at $1.29, below market rates, this run on silver would not have occurred. We might still enjoy a Treasury-issued honest money system. But we do not. And because of that, we suffer with the inferior currency issued by the Federal Reserve. Please show this chart and explain the story behind it to everyone you tell about The Liberty Dollar. We think it's a powerful, visual way to show the difference between sound money (silver and gold) and debt (FRNs.) People who like facts and figures respond to this message; it uses government statistics and average annual market prices to put the story right out on the table. One other fact worth noting: in 1913, the U.S. Silver Dollar contained almost exactly the same ratio of face value to metal content as the Silver Liberty! (That means, a $1 U.S. Silver Dollar contained $0.45 in silver; a $10 Silver Liberty contains $4.50 in silver.) Coincidence? Or history repeating?   2. Meet Our New Internet Wizard and Computer Guru - Ed Gray Hello all... A bit about me...I have tried many different jobs... Everything from Pizza Delivery to a Deputy Constable... I have even gone to college and studied Classical Guitar until I ran out of money... Many starving artists in the world... So I found a career that kept me busy and on the edge of my seat, Computers. I started with a few lifelong friends that I met in college. In 4 years I went from a Novice Computer Technician to a Enterprise Internet Consultant helping provide Technical Solutions for large companies in the area. The world moves at a fast pace... and the Rat Race can take its toll... I think everyone can relate to that... Computers and the people that have computer needs seem to move even faster... Time is money... Or something like that... After a life challenging year of losing my parents and questioning the reason of my existence, I realized that I no longer wished to spend so much time trying to keep up with the whims of big business... So I began to look around for other opportunities. I knew the Liberty Dollar Team from previously working with them. I also knew that to do anything on the Internet you needed a competent Technical Staff otherwise you would spend countless assets on Consultants. I was looking for another avenue and they were looking for a Technician... timing is everything... or so I have noticed.... I could end the story here but since I started on April 1st I have found that not only did I find a group of dedicated individuals that understand the meaning and strength of a Team but I found a place that gives me a little piece of mind at the end of the day... These folks are great... I am extremely proud to be a part of the Team... I plan to streamline our Internet E-Commerce and Website, not to mention support the fine people here in the home office and in the field... So less stress, a Dedicated Team, and Innovative Ideas - what more could I ask for. Oh yeah and they pay me... So not only are the other things I mentioned before great, but we have a morally engaging and beneficial product that we support and nurture.   3. The NORFED Office Will Be Thin in Early May Bernards current road trip is taking him through Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas. Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. And then he stops back home long enough to repack his suitcase and head off to a week long conference where he will be a featured speaker. Most of the NORFED office will go along to staff our booth and recruit new supporters and Redemption Centers while spreading the word about The Liberty Dollar. So be forewarned that during the week of May 6 10, the home office will be understaffed and overworked, but then everyone will return in full force on May 13.
  4. Tech Corner by Ed Gray This will be a regular section of the newsletter describing changes to the Internet environment. I am still doing a bit of planning and consolidation so I haven't much to report as of yet. However, I am currently striving to update the website so that it is easier to utilize and navigate through. One of the many exciting projects on my agenda is the Liberty Yellow Pages site I am designing that will allow for quicker and easier location of fellow merchants using and accepting the Liberty Currency. Also in the works are several upgrades and new functions that I won't mention just yet, since they are still in the planning phase... so stay tuned if you are interested in Technical issues and topics...
