David had recently moved to our little corner of NW Arkansas from Georgia , a move he attributes in large part to my "Call To New America" series of articles ( http://www.4thbranch.com ). Fortunately for me he came with nearly 20 years experience in retail store management. He did an admirable job for us at ALFII's office, and we often spent time looking at other features we could offer to our members. We investigated other services we could conceivably bring to them, and somewhere along the line he showed me some research he had done on his own time. David had found suppliers for many different kinds of products, ranging from shoes and clothing to electronics, from tools and toys to house wares, and much more. From this work, the concept of the Liberty General Store was born! Liberty General Stores will accept Liberty Dollars, and even offer a small discount for customers who will use them in their shopping. Projections indicate that this will generate a good return on the investments we'll make with some of the ALFII Members. Our plans include opening stores that will be owned and operated by ALFII, and franchising other stores to independent owners. Well, while we were looking for a building for our first store, we learned that a local market had closed down. And as it turned out it was for many years the staple gas-and-grocery store for thousands of rural residents in the Alpena, Arkansas , area . So I called the owner to discuss a possible lease or purchase. I learned that the owners had recently sold the store to another company who specialized in Convenience Stores, but the sale had gone bad and they got the store back. Now the owners were trying to decide whether to reopen the store, or just leave it closed. Well, since the building was well suited to what we were looking for, I set a time to visit and discuss a lease. Meanwhile, David and I began looking at all we could do with the store, and at one point we entertained the idea of keeping it as is... a grocery store. We decided, just for fun, to run some numbers and find out just how we would do if we applied the LG model of accepting Liberty Dollars, and offering a five percent discount for their use to a standard gas-and-grocery operation. We studied it from many angles, and finally concluded that, by golly, we could do it and make a darn good profit! I went to my scheduled meeting, and somehow blundered into a deal that would make Robert G. Allen jealous! We bought the store, all of its equipment and stock, and a whole city block of real estate at a price that was so low I almost thought they were joking! So... as they say, the rest is History (or at least in the making, I guess)... the Liberty Market will have its Grand Opening on July 4th, 2003 ! It will offer a standard stock of items, with full meat and produce sections, at competitive prices with the big grocery stores in the region. We will accept Liberty Dollars just like more than forty other Liberty Merchants in the area, who have made the new currency familiar to the people around here. And, since the store sits just across the county line into Boone County , we

expect to make great strides in expanding LibertyDollarVille from the Berryville-Green Forest-Alpena area right into Harrison , the biggest little city in these parts! Hope some of you good folks can drop by and visit! THANK YOU WAYNE ! Wishing you and the first Liberty General Store all the best. Wish I could be there for the opening! Several recent posts to the ALD discussion group [email protected] are typical of the expanding use: Jacob Halbrooks < [email protected] > reports: I am pleased to say that www.libertysilvernow.com is now paying with Liberty Dollars for site hosting (courtesy of Atlantis Liberty). Also, I have compiled a page for online Liberty Merchants; so now online shopping with the Liberty Dollar is very easy and simple. Please go to http://www.libertysilvernow.com/businesses.html If you know of any other online merchants who accept the Liberty Dollar, please e-mail their links to me. Note that, for the merchants listed who do not indicate on their website that they accept the Liberty Dollar, I received an e-mail from them indicating that they would. Thanks Jacob And Jim Davidson < [email protected] > reports: http://Cambist.net/ accepts the Liberty Dollar, and also allows for exchanges from Liberty Dollars into and out of other online metal currencies such as e-gold. So, those wishing to buy e-gold with Liberty Dollars or buy Liberty Dollars with e-gold would benefit. You can contact [email protected] for more details. Thanks Jim If you have news about a Liberty Merchant, please send it to [email protected] and put my name or Liberty Merchant in the subject line. I would welcome the opportunity to include more info about Merchants who are using the currency or as in the case with Jacob, ways we can facilitate more businesses using The Liberty Dollar. 5 How to Un-Spending The Liberty Dollar • Here is a very novel idea from Steve Coerper" < [email protected] >: I have found what I think is an effective way to educate people about real money, even when I'm down

to my last Liberty . Perhaps this has happened to you. You left home in the morning with what you thought were more than enough silver Libertys, but before you know it, you're down to your last one. And you think, "Oh, man! How can I continue to return America to value one dollar at a time when all I have is one Liberty and a wallet full of Federal Reserve funny money?" Here's what I do: When making a purchase, say less than $10, I give the helpful and courteous cashier a $20 bill and ask for my change in silver. "Do you have one of those $10 silver coin I could have as change?" I ask hopefully. (Note: this is probably the only time I ever use the word 'coin' to suggest a silver Liberty .) Answers will vary :

  1. "You're the third person to ask for one of those."
  2. "What do you want?? A roll of quarters?"
  3. "A $10 silver coin? I don't think I've ever even seen one of those." At that point, it may be appropriate to take out your one remaining Liberty and say, "I only have one of these, and was hoping to get a few more." Then it's usually a brief period of show and tell. One of the common questions, at least in my experience, is "Where did you get THAT?" This could be a sticky question, because 1) you should NEVER lie, and 2) you should NEVER appear to be selling silver. There are two ways I deal with this question. First, it's really none of their business where I get my money. But they are legitimately interested. The same question from an IRS auditor would have a very different meaning. In my case, there was a lady at a flower shop who was very interested in Libertys and took about six of them, then allowed her banker to convince her that because it's "just an ounce of silver," it was only "worth" $4.90 (the spot price). So she called me up and wanted to undo the deal. So I tell people, "I got it at a flower shop in Raleigh ," which is correct. My other response is a "lateral arabesque," that is, I give a non-answer. I treat the question as a sort of rhetorical device on their part and simply talk about how lovely the Liberty is, and how much nicer it is to have REAL MONEY instead of paper Federal Reserve "bongo bucks." It's not unusual to have the cashier call a manager or another cashier. They may show a great deal of interest in Libertys. NEVER offer to bring them some, or get them some or anything like that. If your next order comes in and you happen to shop there, you can try to spend some. But if you suddenly shift gears from a "silver seeker" to a "silver provider," you will appear to be a "silver salesman" and all your educational efforts will be suspect. You might get lucky and she will say, "Yes, I have some here" or the manager might produce one that the bank rejected. Take as many as you can afford and thank them. You might even say, " now when people ask me where to get these, I can send them here." This is a powerful message to the manager or cashier, as they will begin to see that Federal Reserve Banks don't determine what is valuable. In any event, the next person to come to that store to spend silver won't have any problems doing so. This is known in the shipbuilding industry as "greasing the skids." As soon as that next customer offers a Liberty , the cashier will gladly and enthusiastically accept, some REAL MONEY will circulate, and another satisfying commercial transaction will be completed. Thanks Steve. I love your Un-spending idea!

Remember, money is a favorite topic and taking the Liberty Booth with you will certainly enhance your experience and may even increase your cash flow too! So call the office and see what we can do at the next event with you. 7 Liberty Dollar Checks Have Been Discontinued • As we have commented before this is another announcement that the Liberty Checks have been discontinued. If you are still holding the checks and you wish to cash them, please send them to the Fulfillment Office in Evansville and they will send you a new check drawn on our new account. Or you may exchange your checks, which are backed by those dreaded Federal Reserve Notes, for some brand new shinny Silver Liberty Dollars. Your choice. 8 Dr. Edwin Vieira, Jr., Esq. Speech • Although our preference is to feature Redemption Centers in this Newsletter, as in the past, it certainly is not limited to such a format. For that reason, I draw your attention to a recent speech by Dr. Edwin Vieira, Jr., Esq., “ Trashing the Constitution: How misconstruction of the monetary powers and disabilities subverted the Founding Fathers’ intent. ” Long title eh? Well the speech is not too long and quite good, so I recommend you check it out at http://www.fame.org/whatsnew.asp . Ed was introduced by Dr. Lawrence Parks, Executive Director of Foundation for the Advancement of Monetary Education (FAME) Please contact Larry and mention you saw the article in the Liberty Dollar News and suggest he become a RC, fore as yet he nor Ed are RC …yet… It seems that the acceptance of good money, like good food, takes time. 9 Incident of the Month • Incidents come in all sizes. Just ask Gayla Striplin. Late Friday afternoon on May 30, 2003 , Gayla called the Fulfillment Office from K-Mart where she had used The Liberty Dollar. Seemed someone had called security when they thought it may be counterfeit. Well with her children crying and the security threatening her with handcuffs, she learned it is always best to learn how to use the currency before using it. Fortunately, all turned out well, Gayla and family are fine, although Gayla stopped being a Redemption Center due to her “incident”. So, before you become active in changing our nation’s monetary system, PLEASE read the Usage article and Success Stories FIRST. And always report any incident promptly to the Fulfillment Office. We are there to assist you. Just remember, NEVER CALL THE LIBERTY DOLLAR LEGAL TENDER. It is not legal tender theft, it is the

solution to the Federal Reserve debt based currency. PLEASE continue to report all incidents ASAP. It is important for the Organization to “read” the level of activity and use each one as a learning lesson as we find our way through the mine field of ignorant people and ^%$#@!! Banksters… Thank you! 10 Question of the Month • QUESTION: What is the smallest amount of Liberty Dollars that can be transacted online? ANSWER: Any amount, down to just one cent ($0.01), can be emailed to anyone in the world. Any transaction under $10.00 is absolutely FREE. And any transaction, regardless of the size, over $10.00 is just 37 cents. So go ahead and send a penny out to a 100 people for only a buck! Tell the world how great the Liberty Dollar is online – 100% redeemable in Silver Libertys just like the paper Silver Certificates. Or you can get Silver Certificates for your digital Liberty Dollar too. 11 Redemption Center of the Month • Many many years ago, when I first started to “learn the truth” I discovered The Naked Communist and The Naked Capitalist by W. Cleon Skousen. These two legendary works dating back to 1959 and early 60’s by Dr. Skousen provided me with one of the first insights into the world as it really is. Their value remains the same today. I am pleased to confirm that Cleon is alive and doing very well in Salt Lake City . Like the Federal Reserve, Cleon turned 90 this year. I was fortunate to spend the afternoon with him on my last visit to SLC when I visited his son, Harold, who is the Redemption Center of the Month. Now Harold is not the RC of the Month because of his famous father, he is so honored for the outstanding work he has done on The Liberty Dollar videos and CD. So when you watch a video or listen to a CD, please join me in thanking a fellow RC for his contributions . It is his and all of your efforts, which propel us toward our goal. Thank you Harold for taking the initiative and your excellent work in pursuit of our common goals. 12 Quote of the Month • “An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest” – Benjamin Franklin Thank you for your continued support, fore without it, our success is not possible.
