Ron Paul Platinum
The 2008 NORFED $2000 Ron Paul Platinum Liberty Dollar is a rare, one-ounce platinum Liberty Dollar and was the only platinum piece made by the NORFED/Liberty Dollar organization. Only 100 were minted, and most, if not all, were serial numbered and featured the "Bill of Rights" BOR in a scroll hallmark (see pictures).
On November 14, 2007, the FBI and Secret Service raided Liberty Dollar offices and Sunshine Mint, seizing all gold, silver, and platinum Libertys, including nearly two tons of Ron Paul Dollars. This raid significantly reduced the availability of the Ron Paul Platinum Liberty Dollars, making them almost as rare as the Evansville piece - most of which were seized in the same raid.
Despite efforts to have the government return the seized Liberty Dollars and a lengthy legal battle, the court's final decision branded these pieces as contraband, ensuring that none of the seized items would ever be returned.
